YOGA INSTRUCTOR - RYT 500, YACEP, CMT
Kiara McBain
Kiara first made her way to the yoga mat more than twenty years ago. As a child, meditation was a regular practice in her household, but as a hyperactive teenager, it was the addition of yoga asana that would help her find her dharma. Little did she know that the healing power of asana, breathwork, meditation and the like would eventually help her overcome PTSD and cancer. This challenging time left her feeling called to share these powerful practices with others. In 2010 she began her yoga teaching journey and has since taught across the planet to share its healing effects with the world.
Since becoming a yoga instructor in 2011, Kiara has taught classes in yoga studio and gyms, at resorts, in corporate offices, juvenile centers and country clubs. She has taught to at-risk youth, celebrities, varying kinds of athletes, individuals suffering with physical and psychological illness and to advanced and beginning yogis. She has spent years teaching students one-on-one and leading groups in classes, workshops, teacher trainings and immersive retreats. Inclusivity is genuinely at the heart of her teaching. Kiara believes that yoga helps us make our way back to our selves; serving as a space for each individual to practice self-inquiry and acceptance. And that, she believes, everyone should have access to.
Kiara began creating and leading yoga teacher trainings in 2016. She has led both 200 hour yoga teacher trainings and 300 hour yoga teacher trainings. She was the interim Anatomy Instructor for the Santa Cruz massage school. She is the creator of the Rubber Band Method®, a safe, anatomical approach to hands-on assists for yoga teachers. Kiara believes that yoga teacher trainings are the basis for spreading change in an overstressed world. As more students learn and provide yoga to others, offer and receive healing touch with Rubber Band Method® hands-on assists and gather tools for self-regulation, we can become a world based on peace and wellbeing.
Kiara is an ERYT500 instructor with more than 3500 teaching hours and over 1000 training hours in yoga. She has extensive experience working with cadaver dissection and continues ongoing studies of anatomy as a licensed Massage Therapist. Kiara is also a Tension & Trauma Release certified instructor and HeartMath Institute certified provider. Her teachings are known for coupling Eastern Philosophy with Western science; always addressing both the mind and the body.
