From your jungle bungalow, to the open-air restaurant... from the outdoor pool to the luminous Yoga Shala, you are completely immersed in nature at Kantu Garden Lodge, while also being within walking distance of many shops and local markets. Located by the river port of Tahuishco, it is easy to get around by "tuktuk" and explore the colorful and vibrant city in your free time. We are two-hours away by taxi from Tarapoto Airport (airport pick-up and transfer is included) directly linked to Lima International Airport.
FLUIDITY
Vinyasa Yoga
The Sanskrit word ‘Vinyasa’ translates as “to place in a special way”, and Vinyasa Yog is thus characterized by fluidly stringing asana postures together, with each movement synchronized with the breath. The style is vigorous and movement-intensive based on a continuous flow from one asana to the next, and offers a wide variety of postures which means that, unlike the rigidity of Ashtanga yoga sequences, no two Vinyasa classes are ever alike. Faster-paced than Hatha yoga, Vinyasa yoga classes involve progressively increasing body heat -and sweat- and building strength. It teaches us to cultivate an awareness that links each action to the next, both on the mat and in our lives.
During this training, you will learn Vinyasa yoga methods to assess the needs of individual students or groups, and then build a complementary, step by step practice to meet those needs. In addition to the postures you will learn during Hatha yoga classes (many of which transpose into Vinyasa), you will practice Ashtanga sun salutations A & B, plank pose, four-limbed staff pose, cat-cow stretches, side plank, cobra, grasshopper, as well as many other and more advanced asanas such as arm balances, headstands, inversions, and handstands techniques.
GRAVITY
Yin Yoga
A While the majority of yoga styles deriving from Hatha Yoga are known as "yang" styles for their vigorous and flow-based approach to movement that mainly targets muscles, there is another, equally important and often neglected style that is opposite: yin yoga - where we focus on deep connective tissues, like the fascia, ligaments, joints, and bones, and on releasing tension, tightness, on relaxing body, breath, and on exploring stillness.
Yin Yoga is a slow and gentle practice where you're holding postures for 3-5 or more minutes, stretching less-often used tissues, finding comfort in your edge and turning inward, tuning into your breath and your thoughts. Props? Yes, please! Bolsters, blankets, blocks and eye pillows support practitioners restricted in certain movements, and allows for a more meditative practice.
Yin Yoga offers various opportunities for deepening one's practice. From physical stretching to quieting the mind, these can support sitting in meditation practice for longer periods of time.
DIGITAL DETOX
Time to Disconnect
We encourage you to take time off your screens, especially your phone, during this retreat. While we will not be enforcing a strict digital detox, part of rewilding and connecting to nature is disconnecting from technology and the distractions and demands that often come with it. If you are ready to go full detox, great! If you have commitments or responsibilities that require you to use your phone, we ask that you do not bring it to meals, practices in the Shala, and that you consciously try to limit your screen time.
APPLICATION IN DAILY LIFE
Experiential Excursions
We believe in not spending the entire duration of the experience in a classroom or yoga shala, but instead to go out in nature to experience and put into practice some of the concepts we study. For example our excursion to Tingana eco-reserve is comprised of a silent meditational canoe ride in Amazon wetlands, our Karma Yoga selfless service group project focuses on giving back to the local communities, and our excursion to the Bosque de las Nuwas allows you to experience medicinal plant conservation in a pre-Inca community, and practice asana, contemplation, and equanimity in nature.

Taking place on the evening of the last day of our Yoga Teacher Trainings (you must book an extra night at the hotel), this Ayahuasca ceremony is available exclusively to participants of our 7-day Bosque de Las Nuwas retreat and teacher training students, and will be held in an atmospheric space (the yoga shala) which contains a mattress, a blanket, cushions and bolsters for each participant, allowing you to comfortably lie down. The ceremony starts with the establishment of your intentions. During the 5-7 hour journey, you will be carried away by accompanying icaros (traditional plant medicine signing) and you will be supported by a loving, experienced curandero or shaman and some of your yoga teachers as guides. Our curandero/shaman is further familiar with spiritual and energetic work and has a lot of experience in life, in drinking Psilohuasca/Ayahuasca, and in guiding ceremonies.
The individual process of each participant is the starting point and the guidance will be matched to the need at that time.
